Initiated by Emma Paxton.
In conjunction with WayAhead Mental Health Association NSW, The Happy Hens Social Enterprise are holding a fun, free community event in the grounds of the historic Gladesville Hospital. The inaugural Bedlam at the Bay event is on Sunday 21st October from 11am until 5pm and includes free activities and fun for all ages.
Bedlam at the Bay will include live music, unique art and craft activities, giant inflatables, yoga workshops, mini massages, run or walk around the beautiful grounds of Bedlam Bay and a performance from fabulous singer Sara Jeanne and her Big Band. Coffee, food and drinks can be purchased from a range of food trucks on site or bring your own picnic.
“The Happy Hens Social Enterprise wanted to create an event that involved the whole community whilst showcasing the positive things you can do to improve your mental health,” said Emma Paxton from The Happy Hens Social Enterprise. “We also wanted to help people in the community suffering from mental illness to not feel alone and more importantly, not to feel ashamed.”
According to the Young Minds Matter study, approximately one in seven or 560,000 young people in Australia experience mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. But it is not only young people affected. Mental Health issues touch almost every family in Australia so it is important to encourage the community to talk about these issues and take positive steps to improve their own mental health.
Grab a picnic, relax and enjoy free live entertainment and fun on the foreshore of the Parramatta River in the unique and beautiful surrounds of historic Gladesville Hospital on Sunday 21st October.
